    Nadine, a UMass Memorial speech language pathologist with more than 25 years of experience, helps patients use voice that manifests the individual’s identity. She employs holistic techniques to create one’s authentic self with a focus on resonance, cadence/rhythm of speech, language and non-verbal expression. A referral is needed for these services from a primary care physician.

  • Brenda Lovette M.S. CCC-SLP, CHHC, RYT

    Brenda is a queer-identified speech language pathologist who specializes in gender-affirming voice therapy, particularly with feminizing voices. She has been treating voice diagnoses for 15 years and first pursued training in gender-affirming voice therapy in 2013. She sees patients out of pocket in private practice, or can bill insurance through Emerson Health. To get started, the office asks you have an MD (PCP or ENT) fax in an order with the appropriate diagnosis codes (F64.0 Gender Dysphoria and R49.9 Other voice and resonance disorder) and then call the front desk schedule an appointment.

  • Abigail M. Garneau CCC-SLP, MA

    MGH’s Transgender Voice Therapy program provides individualized therapy in on-on-one and group settings. Abigail in particular has clinical experience in inpatient acute care, outpatient care, skilled nursing facilities, and school-based settings treating a variety of patients and students. MGH is currently accepting new patients, with availability starting about a month out. They ask that new patients fax in a referral from a physician prior to scheduling.

  • Irene Cohen CCC-SLP

    Irene has worked for more than 20 years in medical speech pathology in a variety of settings, including acute care hospitals, acute rehabilitation, outpatient services, home care and skilled nursing facilities. Irene has extensive experience for over ten years providing gender-affirming speech therapy for voice feminization. Her approach aims to take care of vocal health and she strives to work towards voice and communication that sounds authentic, like the voice and sound that the individual wants to have. She also requires an order from an MD prior to scheduling for folks wishing to use insurance. Currently (3/2024) new patient appointments are scheduling starting the week of October 18.
